Richmond Parish Rooms
The Richmond Team Ministry held a competition for a their new parish office and community centre in 2020, located in central Richmond adjacent to the historic Grade II* Listed parish church of St Mary Magdalene. Our winning scheme involved the conversion and extension of the existing buildings into a facility to include a commercial-grade kitchen serving a community restaurant and coffee shop, meeting spaces and a large performance space alongside new offices and meeting rooms for the parish.
Our initial proposal included the infilling of the existing courtyard to provide more space for the restaurant element of the project. However, when the project was recommenced after Covid, it became apparent that the outside space was a desirable and useful asset and the proposal was revised accordingly. The new building has a lift and is fully disabled accessible. The original building is will be insulated to a high standard such that the entire complex can be heated by an air source heat pump. In line with the aims and objectives of policy LP22 of Richmond’s Local Plan (2018), the scheme aims to achieve a ‘Very Good’ BREAM rating.
